Due to the existing system issue prevailing in the ETA platform, the following temporary arrangements will apply until further notice:
1. Tourist Visa and Business Visa
(Except nationals of Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan, Ghana, Syria, and Democratic People?s Republic of Korea ? North Korea)

Apply for a Tourist / Business ETA through the official ETA website:
www.eta.gov.lk

Due to the ongoing system issue, the approval notice may not be issued.
Applicants must present their ETA reference notice at the Immigration Counter
upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Upon verification of the ETA acknowledgement notice, the Tourist / Business ETA
will be issued at the airport.

Travelers must carry all required supporting documents and meet standard entry requirements.
2. Passengers from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan, Ghana, and Syria
All passengers from the above countries intending to visit Sri Lanka must apply
for short-term visa applications through a Sri Lankan sponsor at the Head Office
of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka.
3. Passengers from Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea)
Passengers from Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) are required
to obtain a recommendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for short-term visa applications.

China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan
|
01. A free Visa regime is implemented for nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan with immediate effect.
02. Nationals of the above-nominated countries possessing Diplomatic, Official, Public Affairs, Service, and Ordinary passports are eligible to enjoy a visa-free regime under this scheme.
03. Above nominated nationals should apply for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka subject to granting/issuing free of charge.
04. Under this scheme tourists can enjoy a 30 days free visa period and a double entry facility is permitted from the date of first arrival to Sri Lanka within 30 days.
05. Applicants who have obtained a free visa and need to stay in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days can apply for an extension by paying the appropriate visa fee.
06. Please note that this particular visa-free regime applies to the above seven nominated countries and the rest of the countries may follow the general rules and regulations applicable to Sri Lanka ETA.

Visitors from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana who intend to apply for ETA may apply through Sri Lankan Sponsor for their ETA from the Head office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka.
